so my computer crashed while i was asleep today

thought that the batteries on my wireless keyboard and mouse actually had stopped working

when i manually powered off and pwered back on the bios said some overcloacking failed

not sure if it was cpu or not

anyways this was after several months of stable operation so i am somewhat confused

here is the readout

What motherboard, ram, etc.? I've had that message from Asus boards when overclocking, and had them work find on the next reboot. I believe that fault code is PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, which really doesn't tell you much beyond that some hardware error caused a fault. It's a pretty common one with overclocking failures and I would suspect a memory read error. Anyway, if it continues to happen on reboot I would restore to default settings and see if it comes back to life. If not you may have cooked some ram or something.

asus m5a99fx pro 2.0

apatop 1866 9-11-9-27 at 1.65 bolts

generally i would assume the ram is the problem

when i installed it it would not automatically work at the given speed. it wants to run at 1333 and at 11-11-11-28

and i can not overclock manually. instead i have to use dohc and move the cpu and ram to what i want. and the ram is what will not work at 1866 with 9-11-9-27 at least when in manual mode. if i remember right

i have thought about replacing this ram since i got it

right now i have the cpu at 20 over 200 and the ram at 1333

Well, with the history of the memory being flaky at spid, yeah that's where I would look first. Do you have another stick you can put in there? You didn't say whether it boots with stock settings.

what do you mean?

it seems to work fine right now at 1333

when i try to run at 1866 and the increased timings i have to use dohc

it took several months to have a problem at the overclocked speeds but that is where it was actually supposed to work

Do you mean DOCP? DOHC is dual overhead cam. Somehow I doubt your PSU is internal combustion!

What is the resulting bus speed and multiplier after you use DOCP?

yes

what multiplier

and where should i look for it if it is not in the ai tweaker front page

my cpu is 20 over 200 right now so are you talking about the basic cpu multiplier that affects the speed of the rest of the system? then it would be 200

so motherboard come use up to 2400 ram

the specs for the 8350 are 1866

if i have to replace the ram should i go with 2400 and if i feel like overclocking later i can do that

given that the team 2400 is more or less the same price as the corsair 1866

Do you have an FX-8350? If so, then your clocks are correct for stock operation (200 MHz x 20).

Definitely download WhoCrashed and see if it can give you more information about the minidump.

I hate when my car tries to drive my computer.

The damned thing wrecks it too often :p
