windows freezes, think its motherboard. need suggestions

i have run across many amptron 3748 boards. and they ALL seem to crash windows. i get no blue screen just the system locksup. has anyone come across this problem in windows98. my diagnostic software (MicroScope) says the board is fine. all the drivers are up to date.

try to slow the RAM timings... or disable the UDMA feature (I know it sucks, but that can help)
or try to load the setup defaults in BIOS (after this u can see if it still locks up, and start tweaking the settings one @ a time and see what caused the freeze
Or: change the RAM u use or even worse: format&reinstall

i turned the ram settings down. turned off dma in the bios and in windows 98 for the cdrom and harddrive. turned off read-ahead optimizatons for the cdrom and harddrive. and i reinstalled the OS. i wipe the drive, fdisked, formated and reinstalled 98. now that i think about it, i think i should turn down the video acceleration a notch. hhmmmm....
