Windows freezes on startup

Windows keeps freezing during the bootup screen. the green bars just stop moving. I reformatted the harddrive and tried other hardrives, it always stops. I don't know what the problem could be. please help.

Hey this is my setup

Soltek i865PE motherboard
Pentium 4 3Ghz
geforce 4600
512 kingston valuram

I installed windows XP pro, but can't get past to bootup screen to actually finish the installation in windows.

some what same problem i was having a few months back..............i tried changin my RAM modules........it turned out that one of my RAM module was faulty..........so check urs.(although it may not say anythin durin POST, sometimes RAM modules pass memory check in BIOS but still create problems

Hmmm... I think maybe I need more detail. What brand/model of hard drive, and is your CPU a Prescott or a Northwood, and what Service Pack level is your WinXP CD-ROM at, for starters?
