windows freezes at logo

everytime i boot up windows, it freezes at the loading screen where the blue bar moves across and has the xp logo. i tried safe mode, last known good and none of them work. safe mode just doesnt load up after the words are shown.

i have the ultimate boot cd but im not sure which tools to use.

any suggestions?

use your windows xp cd and get into recovery console and run chkdsk /f or chkdsk /r to see if you have any hard drive problems.
