Windows fine; Games freeze. *FIXED*

Ok, here's the deal. Windows XP is running great, but after a couple minutes of being in a game the screen goes black and I have to reboot the machine. Originally I thought that it was overheating, not so. The CPU is at a constant 131 F and the MB is at 95 F. Those aren't dangerous temperatures are they? My second thought was BIOS / Drivers so I've updated the drivers and the BIOS. Still no go. Finally, I updated to the lateast Detonator Drivers (these things come out weekly it seems) and while the game seemed to last a little longer, maybe one or two minutes more, it still died. However, instead of going black it went half black and then half purple/red/etc lines. I've also checked my Power Supply and it seems to be running great, at 300W.

I'm now assuming its some sort of driver or BIOS setting, but I'm really clueless on where to start with that.

AMD 1900XP
512 of DDR
Asus A7N-266VM
GeForce2 Pro 64

Any help is appreciated!

The CPU and MB temps are slightly higher than optimal, but acceptable.
(Your CPU is running 55C, 40-50C is optimal)

Have you updated the VIA chipset (4in1) drivers?

There have been many updates to the AGP miniport drivers for use with
AMD Cpu's and DirectX.

You can find them here:
VIA 4in1 driver update

I would try v4.30a driver, not the latest.

While by board doesn't use the VIA chipset, it does use the nForce chipset! Your post got me thinking and I tried new nForce drivers, kind of hard to find on Nvidia's page, and tada! All is happy! Thanks for suggesting the chipset update.
