I have a folder on one computer that I need to be shared, accessible by all. When I share it using simple file sharing, all computer on the network can access it just fine. However, I'd like the ability to fine tune my controls a little bit.

Using advanced file sharing, I can't figure out a way to make the share open to everyone. No matter what, when you try and access the share, it prompts you for a username and password. Entering "anonymous" allows access, but i'd like the process to be transparent, as it is with simple file sharing. Is there a way to achieve this? Or else, is there a way to read the details of a share's security while simple sharing is enabled?

I have tried all the basics (allowing access for Everyone, NETWORK USERS, anonymous logon, etc) to no avail. Please advise.

actually, login and password always exist, it can't be the other way but there is a standard set of these passwords\logins. Depends on whether a samba server can come to an agreement with a client, the window that asks login\passw appears or not.
