Windows file protection question

Hope this is the proper forum. It is OS related.

Cranked up to a mess this morning: disk boot error. I finally got it working and wanted to run sfc /scannow. First, it squawked my XP CD saying it was the wrong one (it wasn't).

Then, as it began to run sfc, it would keep asking for the XP CD..it would run for several minutes and then ask again. It finally completed and everything seems to be OK.

My question is, is this normal behavior for windows file protection? I would expect that I would just put in the CD and it would run smoothly along until it completes.

Any comments?

For what its worth..I had the same experience...kept asking for the CD.
Runs OK now.

Is it normal ??
Who knows what is normal with MS.

Well, it seems fine. Last problem like this was in March and I had to wipe the drive which I hate to do.

Thanks for your post.
