I'm trying to install this one file that apparently is protected by Windows. Can i disable it momentarily?

Yes.

Can't remember exactly how...I think it's a reg poke....try searching hardOCP for something about changing the boot logo for W2K.

You can disable WFP using this method. However turning it back on afterwards will give you the same problem you have now. So for this to work you would have to leave it off.

You know that just occurred to me too. O well...I'm not that concerned with changing my boot logo.

Don't give up yet....I managed to do it, w/o disabling the WFP. IIRC, you turn off file protection, copy in the necessary file, then put a second copy of it in another directory, so WFP checks the new file against the other directory, where you've placed a dupe.

What's the other directory you put it in so that it would check the duplicate?
