Question Windows File Back Up not Synchronizing - deleted files still kept on backup drive

I am using the built in backup tool in my Win 10 system and I recently deleted a few hundred gigabytes worth of old files. For some reasons, the deleted files are still kept on the backup drive and I can't find a way for it to synchronize to free up space on the backup drive. Any ideas guys?
 
The windows 10 backup is very basic, and doesn't sync. To solve your problem, you should delete the backups you have with the old files, and then run a backup. The backup program does have an option where you can set it to keep your backups until space is needed.
