Windows Explorer WMP file preview

Hi,
I'm on Win2K, and I have WMP9. as you know, under Windows Explorer, there's a file preview function that lets me preview image/audio/video files just by clicking on the file. However, video files seem to take much longer with WMP9 then before with WMP6.4. My computer will freeze for a few seconds and during this time I can't do anything to the file(move, rename, delete) since WMP9 is accessing it. Is this normal? How can I stop this? I would like to have the file preview function available but not have it take so long and limit my access to the file.
