Windows Explorer view in Windows XP question.

Ok, not a major annoyance, but I'd like to be able to have XP display things a certain way. The link is to a pic of what I'd like to have XP show. 2000 does it, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it in XP. Any help is appreciated.

To have it how you illustrate, I think you have to set up your XP to 'Classic' Style - then you can set your Folders in the 'old' way ie - View - As Web Page

I don't know how to set the Classic Style because I prefer XP the way it is

Already tried that, no go unfortunately. 🙁 I'm in no big hurry to do it cause it's on my laptop, but I'm so used to Win2k and I'd like to keep things pretty much the same between the two.

All the view options can be found in the Tools menu, Folder Options.

Set one folder the way you like, then click the button that'll apply those settings to all folders.

That's still not it. When you go into Folder Options, in 2K there's an option called Web View, that's not in XP and that's what controls what I'm looking for.

i prefer that "view" too but haven't found how to get it except right click on the drives letter and select properties.
good luck

Figures, one of my favorite features and it's removed from a "better" OS. There has to be a way to get the folder tree & the details bar to show at the same time. Too bad I don't know a damn thing about reg hacking and writing software. 🙁

If you click the folders icon in windows explorer you will see the tasks information which sows folder and file information and details and is the part that shows image and video previews like the old web view used to do. If you don't see the tasks then you need to enable the show common tasks in folders option in the perforance options of system properties.

I realy liked the web view as well and I am still looking for a way to restore it but without any luck. If anyboudy finds a solution or simply a hack to get this back please post.

Thanks
