Windows Explorer slow with one folder

I'm having trouble with a particular folder taking ages to open in windows explorer. It's where I store most of my movies and TV shows, and it's about 200GB in 600-odd files. I've noticed that navigating to it through whatever method is really slow - it literally takes 20 seconds to show anything.

Navigating directly to a subdirectory through a shortcut or typing in the address into the bar is normal, and opening the directory that contains this particular folder is also normal.

I don't think it's to do with the number of files in that folder, I have several folders that number nearly 100,000 files and subdirectories that have no trouble opening. Similarly, I have some folders that are nearly as large, and my backup folder on my external HDD is about 700GB, and they have no trouble either.

This is in a WD Caviar Blue 640GB drive.

Do you have thumbnails turned on? That has a great deal of overhead with video files.
