Windows Explorer Opens Automatically on Startup (WinXP)

I have two problems with Windows Explorer in Windows XP:

1. After my computer loads Windows XP, Windows Explorer opens automatically to C:\ATI\Support. How can I stop this from happening? (recently installed Radeon 9600 Pro - started after installing Catalyst Drivers)

2. Windows Explorer refuses to remain fully tiled on the screen even after I tile horizontally and then exit the program. How can I make Windows Explorer always open "full screen"?

msconfig/startup programs/uncheck it

right click explorer/properties/run/maximized

Unfortunately, when I used msconfig there did not appear to be any program that would trigger Windows Explorer opening automatically upon booting.

Is there any other program or registry setting that could cause Windows Explorer to open automatically to C:\program files\ATI\Support upon booting? (recently installed Radeon 9600 Pro - started after installing Catalyst Drivers)

The straightforward way to run something from the registry is under the Run or Runonce key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I believe msconfig displays the entries there. The advantage is that you can temporarily disable an entry, and then re-enable. In Windows, there is the Startup folder. Anything in it will start every time Windows starts.

You can search on "C:\ATI\Support" in the registry.

Other startup files Windows uses are WIN.INI and SYSTEM.INI. Maybe WINSTART.BAT. You can do a search of text within all files.

Good luck. For me, every time Windows starts, two windows of the "My Documents" folder open, and I have found no reason why so far. If I don't close them, I get 4 the next time. Etc.

I like Windows Explorer (explorer.exe not iexplorer.exe) to open fully upon execution so I can see all my lovely files without an extra click.

I will search through the registry an other startup files to see if I can find where the "c:\program files\ati\support" string might be located.

This worked for me. Drag the explorer window to the upper left. Resize the window by dragging the lower right until it fills the screen. Don't click the full screen box. Close the window with the X in the top right. Next time explorer is opened, it fills the screen as before.

Actually, I don't see why it didn't work the way you did it. Maybe you unchecked "Remember each folders view settings" Tools. Folder Options. View.
