Windows Explorer error

Everytime I start a game of some sort I get a message that says:

"Windows Explorer has encountered an error and needs to close"

The OS is XP SP21 and this is a fresh install of 1 week old. I was getting the message before the SP2 install. It seems as if it has something to with my video card because I get it the message when I start them.

2000 XP
MSI K7N2G Delta NF2-U
256mb 2700
9800 Pro ...built by ATI
Santa Cruz sound card

Do you know what brand of memory you have in your system ? I'd run memtest+ or prime95 to see if it might be hardware related.

Do you have an anti virus software with up to date definitions ? any anti-spyware apps ? I'd do checks with those if you haven't already.

You might want to test your hard drive as well with the manufacturer of the drive's testing utility which you can download for free at their websites.
