How did you get to the defrag?
Was it typing in cmd?
or
Disk management console?
or
properties/tools from my computer?
Anyway, try a different way.

Also, what av/firewall do you use?
Are there any other problems you have spotted?
If so, when did they start - and also , when was the last time you were able to defrag?
What happened between then and now?
Any software/driver installations?
