my computer went haywire when I went to a website and said i had spyware and a bunch of stuff, so I put in my windows disc to format my harddrive and stuff and it wont boot from disc. Is there a button I can press to make it?

Probably need to adjust your bios so your CD/DVD drive is the first boot device.

Why not just clean out the sypware etc. instead of throwing the baby out with the bathwater?

Lesson learned - at least install and run Microsoft's free antispyware. It does a good job.

First of all, which website told you that you had spyware? ~_~
Second, just clean it up. Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D.
Third, BIOS is your friend.

You shouldn't need to format your HD unless the spyware prevented you from logging in(this happens only in extreme infections).

You'll need to set your BIOS to first boot to CD, but if your CD isn't bootable then you are out of luck anyway.

the website didn't tell me I had spyware, it was windows, and stuff started showing up on my desktop every second, it was full after about 10 seconds. I panicked that it might be a virus heading toward my motherboard or something, so I shut off my computer and put my windows disc in and it didnt boot from disc, but then i did figure out that my cd drive was set to load 3, and so i set it to first and it worked. Im on a clean install, and let me say its wonderful. Fastest ive ever seen it.

Windows can't tell you you have spyware

Did the stuff start showing up AFTER you clicked the ok button on the popup that said you had spyware? Sounds like you installed it yourself there bud.

I suggest you read up on how spyware and viruses make their way onto people's machines.

Sounds like a case of old messenger spam. Head over to the Software forum & read the first sticky.
