Windows Dial Up Networking Tweaks

Any help here is highly appreciated guys.

Q. I have a USB DSL modem. I connect through Windows Dial Up Networking. I know there are various things you can do to speed up the login/connection (eg. uncheck the box that displays user name and password everytime you go to connect) but I also remember another tweak where you could change the speed Windows (I use 98) took to verify the user names and passwords (or something to that effect). This wasn't a registery tweak but was achieved through entering, I think, a " - " and then a number eg. " 60 " in the properties of the DUN connection. I believe this changed the default number of miliseconds Windows waited to verify with your ISP.

I had done this tweak before for my analogue modem and then when I switched to DSL I used to log in almost instantaneously. Recently I formatted my HD and forgot to note the tweak! Doh! Now back to the days of slow verification...

Does this make sense? Does anybody have an idea what the tweak is or a way of tweaking for quicker connections?

Cheers.
