Windows defender wont update Fix?????

It installs fine. it wont update. With windows update it will show the update and continuously "install" it, but nothing really gets installed. It says its already downloaded and ready to install. Somethings screwy here. Anybody here know whats going on? Yes i have turned off all my firewalls, AV/SW protection etc.
 
You should not have to turn anything off. Defender updates automatically - quietly - behind the scenes. Hit the down arrow next to the help icon and check the "About" screen. It will show your three element versions, and it also has a "Update" button.

If you can't do any of these things, uninstall it, and reinstall it.
 
believe me, ive done it. im no noob to this. un/reinstalled 7 times. no luck. works on my other computer. And no it doesnt update in the background because it has a warning that it hasbt updated in like 27 days.
