Windows Defender on Windows 10, odd behavior

So I occasionally run a Full scan with Windows Defender on my PC. What's odd is this time I noticed it run a Quick Scan right after the full scan was done. I'm not familiar with this behavior. Anyone know what or why it's doing this?

Timing? May be doing a quick scan at regular intervals. Can you replicate this if you run a scan again?

Only thing I can think of is you have a quick scan set on a schedule (pretty sure it does this by default). If you miss that scheduled scan because the PC is off, it will do it as soon as it next can, which is when you turn the PC on next.

Any scans you manually start will not affect the schedule in any way, but it *will* interrupt an active or scheduled scan if they overlap. In which case it will start up the scheduled scan as soon as the manual one is done (aka the next available opportunity).
