Windows created Local Disk (Z:), how to remove?

I encountered something bizarre in Windows 7 Pro and was hoping someone out there could help. A few days ago I noticed in Explorer that under Computer, in addition to the expected Local Disk (C) and Local Disk (D), there is also a Local Disk (Z). On the drive, there are several folders and files that appear to be setup files for recent updates, although there are some older files (dated back to 2011). I did not create this new partition, at least not intentionally, and I'd like to remove it. When I right click on it there's no option to remove/delete. I tried running Disk Cleanup but unfortunately the drive and all it's contents remained after running. I tried deleting everything but Windows blew up with warnings about deleting system files and I don't want to screw anything up.

When I go to Disk Management, this Z drive does not appear at all (everything appears normal).

When I go to Properties of the drive, it shows the same available and used space as my main drive (C), yet the content is definitely not the same.

I was planning on installing Windows 10 soon (the free upgrade), but I didn't want this weird crap to carry over, so I was hoping to get it removed.

Any ideas?

I did recently use my PC to view some images (xrays and an MRI) off of a DVD that I burned at my work place. The program copies the images along with a viewing utility and installs it on your system. I'm not sure if it is in any way related, but I'm trying to consider all possibilities. I tried finding the program, Inteleviewer, under the Add/Remove Programs list to uninstall it but no luck.

Never mind, I saw a solution posted on Tom's and it worked. Turns out the Temp drive was mapped to Z: for some reason, probably that image viewer I installed.
