I have just built my new pc with following:
New:
CPU: Intel Q6600 B3 Stepping
CPU Fan: ROSEWILL RCX-Z3
Artic Cooling MX-2 thermal paste
RAM: 2 GB Patriot Extreme Performance Low Latency PDC22G6400LLK
Motherboard: ABIT IP-35 Pro
Case: Thermaltake Armor VA8003BWS
Components from old PC:
Video Card: Winfast GeForce 6600 PCIe
Power Supply: Ultra X-Finity 600W (2 yrs old)
3 Sata HDs - Seagate x2 and 1 from Maxtor
Ran a barebones Mobo+CPU+Fan+VideoCard+Keyboard - posted ok and memtest appeared to run for at least 1 pass.
Ok - I put everything in the case. Hooked up all of the fans in the case (5 I think).
Installed windows XP. Ran Prime 95 (v 25.4 - tortures all cores at once) using Blend and it would restart itself after a few minutes.
Did this over an over. Ran the small FFT test for all cores at once - ran ok for over 30 mins. Stopped it and tried blend and it immediately restarted PC.
A BSOD mentioned a page_fault.
Ran MEMTEST86+ - left it on - had 1 successful pass but 35 minutes into it, it hung the PC. 1 successful pass suggests that I do not have bad memory.
CPU core voltage?
BIOS has core voltage set at 1.2875V. ABIT uGuru was showing the CPU voltage at 1.21 and then intermittently it would drop to 1.13V or 1.11V.
Is my PSU bad? Or is there something else happening here????
EDIT: I saw that the RAM is at 1.8V - the Patriot memory is rated at 2.2V 4-4-4-12
My memory is set by SPD
Thanks!
Allan
