My computer recently froze. I rebooted, but ... now every time I boot up Windows, the machine reboots itself early in the boot process, before it even gets to the login screen. I am able to get the boot selection page by pressing F8 on bootup, but all options lead to this reboot: Safe Mode, Last Good Configuration, etc.
The last line on the safe mode bootup that I see is mup.sys.
I installed Windows XP on my home-built machine about a month back (formatting first). My hardware setup is: AMD X2 3800+, Asus Nforce4 MB, 2Gb OCZ RAM, 4 SATA drives.
Is there anything to be done short of reinstalling Windows again? That would be so painful to do.
