Windows crashes on boot. Recovery console crashes too.

A friend just called me up and said his graphics driver went crazy and his computer crashed. He was playing BF2142 and he did a print screen. The colors on his screen went crazy and he got a BSOD. Upon reboot his system crashed before getting to the login screen.

I was walking him through doing a repair. He put in his windows install disc and pressed 'r' on the welcome screen to do a repair. The recovery console came up and asked him which windows install to log in to. He only had one, so he pressed '1' and hit enter. He got a BSOD right after that. This happened three times in a row.

Anything else to try other than reinstalling Windows?

My first guess would be to check the memory. Have him put just one stick at a time and cycle through them all to see if that turns up any back ram sticks.
