Windows Complete PC Backup?

I've never used any sort of backup utility from within Windows. Now that I'm using Vista, I'm tempted to try out Windows Complete PC Backup. Does it really make an image of your entire drive (partitions included) or is it some proprietary format?

I just want to do a total backup of my main system once a month at least. I don't have anything super critical, but it would be a PITA if I lost some things.

this backup software has discussed everyday so try search for thread anyway it depends on what you are looking for freeware or paid version. I use True Image 2009 as backup. it is easy to use...friendly wizard helps alot. Also it allows to create cd or dvd boot up in case of your hdd corrupted etc...it will boot and give you an option to format before retore it to hdd.
