Windows clock wrong, CMOS battery dead?

I'm noticing that my windows time is always not working at one point in time or another, and then it starts working for a while, then it doesn't work. I replaced my CMOS battery and it still does the same exact thing. Any ideas on what is wrong? I did use synchonization with the Internet time server under time settings, but still, it synchronizes, works for a while and doesn't work. I'm frustrated with this problem, can anyone help?

#1... this is a GH question... but it's okay 🙂

#2... same thing happened to my uncle a few years ago. Turned out it wasn't the CMOS battery, but the PSU was actually going dead... because lo and behold a few months of this and the PSU died. 😉 Replaced it and the time hasn't messed up since. Not that you should run out and buy a new PSU, but if you find the battery replacement doesn't fix anything, pick up a new PSU or use a different one you have laying around. Run it for a week or so and if that's not it, I suppose there is no shame in returning the PSU.
edit: Oh, you DID replace the battery. Guess you should look into the PSU.

man, i really hope it isn't the PSU, it's an antec truepower 550w that i paid $100 for, and I put a panasonic 80mm L1A in it. I never had this problem with my other mobo (p4s533-mx asus), I don' tthink there is anything wrong with the mobo, at least i hope not, everything else is working properly in the system.

The clock probably counts the AC cycles on the incoming power to determine system time? If some of the PSU hardware was going wacky it might be a cause....

If you haven't modded your power supply, you should be in luck because Antec TruPowers have a warranty.

the clock looks at DC not AC...
