Windows Clock loses time. Bad battery???

I have a P 133 computer that the Windows clock loses time. It has the origional battery. The BIOS settings appear to be "remembered" but the time is off. Could it be the battery??? Rick.

After a few days, when my resources get low, my Windows clock loses a lot of time too. When I check in bios, the bios clock is always on time. So I take it that my battery is ok. If your bios keeps time, something else is probably responsible for Windows losing it. If your bios clock loses time too, you should change the battery.

certain programs access the system clock, napster is one of them, why I don't know but any time I have anything running in the backgroud that is intensive my system clock loses time, however when I reboot things are back to normal, seen this on literally hundreds of pc's at work also

The next time the clock is slow I will ckeck the BIOS time. I checked it today, but I had already reset the Windows time. The resorces use may be an issue. The computer is an old win 95B machine with only 48 MB of RAM. The machine is used for internet with a cable modem and 1 or 2 other applications open. Thanks. Rick.

Bozack-----you get the prize. The Windows time is off, not the BIOS time. When I restart everything is corrected. Strange. Rick.

Does the amount of RAM make a difference?? This box only has 48MB of old EDO. It's just one of those wonderful little things computers do. MAKE ME LATE!!!

I built a system for my wife's office running Win98SE with 256Mb of Ram. It loses time.

I put an Onstream tape drive in it for backup. I'm pretty sure that when that puppy is running is when the clock slows down. Haven't had the opportunity to dig into it yet.
