Windows checking SSD at every boot

I've got an 80GB X25M that I used on my previous computer with no issues at all. After upgrading to Sandy bridge (see specs below), the computer now checks the disk for consistency probably 90% of the time after I boot up. This behavior seemed to start about a week after I built the new machine.

The disk check doesn't find any serious errors or corrupted files so far as I can tell, but it's still worrying. I get no errors from the disk while in Windows and performance seems to be completely up to par.

Any idea what's going on here? Is the SSD or the mobo the most likely culprit here?

Asus P8P67 LE (most recent BIOS)
8GB Gskill ram
Intel X-25M, 80GB G2
64 bit Windows 7

This is related to the 'dirty' bit. It's having trouble clearing the bit after running chkdsk or something is triggering it during your restart or shutdown. It could even be your SATA cable. I would swap a different SATA cable (maybe from your DVD drive), bootup, get to a command prompt and type chkdsk /f. It won't check it until after you reboot. If that doesn't work try googling, 'chkdsk dirty bit' to see instructions on manually clearing it. If it's still setting the bit, try doing a cycle reboot into safe mode to see if it's still being triggered. Have fun.
