Hi,
Please don't berate me for having winme. Its what I've got.

If I go to control panel and "Sounds & multimedia" and try to play a wav file I get the following message:

Windows cannot play the c:\windows\media\chord.wav (or any wav) file. To resolve replace the file or use Add/Remove Programs to install Audio Compression.

Of course this happens with all wave files and Audio Compression is installed.
