I rebooted my computer and windows began to load and the desktop came up. All other applications failed to load. I clicked windows explorer browser button and received the following message:
Program not found
Windows cannot find autorun.exe
This program is needed for opening files of type 'application'.
Location of autorun.exe
C:\
I am unable to access most applications: Windows explorer, Nortons Antivirus, ect.
O.S. Windows 98se
I updated all critical updates and virus updates a couple of days ago.
It seemed as though the computer was looking for the autorun.exe on the cdrom so I changed the boot sequence from ide-0, cdrom, floppy to just the ide-0. It didn't make any difference.
I think it's a virus that attached its self to all my .exe files.
If I am able to download the latest virus definitions to a disk, what steps do I need to take to execute those files?
Any assistance would be great
