Windows Cannot Access Hard Drive

I had windows xp installed on 2 160GB Sata drives in a raid array so they both acted as one hard drive. I wanted to reinstall windows mce on just one hard drive. So I borrowed my friend's 160 sata, formatted it NTFS with windows disk manager, then copied all files that i wanted to backup onto the lone 160GB sata drive. Then once i had all the files i needed on my friend's hard drive, i uninstalled my raid array and installed Windows MCE on one of my hard drives. Windows setup completed and when i logged in to windows and opened my computer i saw both hard drives: My hard drive with the new windows on it; and my friend's hard drive that i had backed up all my original information.

Here's the problem: I cannot view the contents of the backup hard drive through "My Computer" When i double click on the hard drive the windows cursor turns into an hourglass and it takes a long time to do anything. When it finally does, i get a little window that pops up that says: "Disk is not formatted" "The disk in drive "D" is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?"

I say "No" of course.

Another thing. If i don't have the hard drive plugged in, the computer boots very quickly. If the hard drive IS plugged in, the computer boots very slowly.

I can view all of my hard drives through windows disk management. I can see that the hard drive in question is full, so i can only assume that those are my files in there since i almost filled it up. Any advice or solutions to my problem would be great. I have very important information on that hard drive.

Thanks!
