Windows cannot access file

Hi everyone,

I just built a new machine. Everything seems fine except problems with 2 applications, Speedfan and a game.

When I tried to install my AVG anti virus program gave me a warning threat. I turn off AVG and try to run but got the message "Windows cannot access the specified file, path or device. You may not have appropriate permissions to access the item."

With Speedfan, the mssage was "...encountered a problem...need to close...send report...".

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Doesn't ring a bell, but...

Can I suggest the obvious?

Get rid of AVG and Speedfan...

Avast! is way better than AVG, IMHO, but generates a slight performance hit, because it does so much more than AVG...

And, Speedfan?!?!? There are zillions of utilities that will do the same thing, no? 😉

You're right. I'm going to remove AVG and rely on MSI Core Center to monitor heat if I want want to overclock furthermore.

Thanks for telling me the obvious. Sometimes we were worried too much and forgot to step back and ask "Do we need this?"
