well its worth trying since nothing else has worked. gonna try that now

no errors.

I was given the suggestion of running office off of an SD card. this being a laptop and I never use the slot, i cant see this being a bad idea. if I install it on there and it doesnt work. is it safe to assume i have a virus? or can it still be another problem in my computer
 
Here's a long shot that worked for me once upon a time with MS Office proggies in Vista. Right click on the Word desktop icon, and select Properties. Then Compatibility, and select Compatibility mode for XP. Then try it.

My laptop is an EEE PC 1000h and it came with a 160 drive partitioned into :c 80gb and: 68.9gb

c: has 53.2gb left and d: has 21.5gb left
