windows calendar

evident

Lifer
i personally have been using it sincei got vista and think it's pretty sweet. since i dont like to install full blown outlook on my personal pc at home. who else thinks it's a useful planning device? is google calendar that much better?

I imagine google calendar is functionally equivalent. But Google calendar has the advantage of being accessible anywhere.

If you like windows live mail and live services, they also tie in with an online calendar, though it doesn't integrate with windows calendar for some dumb reason.

If you use Live Calendar you can make your Windows Calendar sync with it (but not vice versa). This makes it superior to Google Calendar imo.

Personally, I use thunderbird/lightning in combination with google calendar. Along with the google contacts extension, I think it really works better than Windows Live Mail.

Windows Live Mail seems to have its IMAP connection reset quite often for some reason. I've found it's also much slower for general usage (launching, loading emails, loading calendar, syncing, etc...).

I'll also use Mozilla Sunbird for a standalone calendar app.

I have a php based calandar software I installed on my local server. Works great. The beauty is having it on redundant storage and have full control over it's backups, and it's accessible from anywhere.
