Windows boot problems, network card related? How to fix?

I am using Windows 98. When I boot up, after the Windows98 screen flashes, I get black and white text saying that "so and so" file has been deleted, Windows registry of SYSTEM.INI file corresponds to it, if you deleted it puposefully, uninstall, if you didn't, install again. I get 3 of these messages, for vnetsetup.vxd, vredir.vxd, and dfs.vxd.

What are they? WHere are they supposed to be?

When windows finally starts I get the error: Unable to load dynamic link library: msnp32.dll Some or all of the following is not available: Microsoft Network.

Any ideas? I did uninstall and reinstall the network card. No change.

These files are located in the Windows CD. Look for these files in windows CD and install them (i think) in windows/system or system32.

Did you recently install/uninstall Distributed File System support on your 98 box?

Easiest thing to fo here is to load up the SYSTEM.INI (open the run line and type sysedit) Move to the system.ini tab and do a file search for what you are missing and remove them. Reboot and then reinstall your networking. That should get you straight.
