I remember back in the day MS touted a feature, I don't remember its name but the gist of it was that (if not disabled), will log in yet remain locked until the password is entered automatically on startup on a password protected account.

That way your desktop can finish loading and the programs that run on startup finish loading, so when you were away while it was booting, you put in the password and it immediately goes into final state. Or if you are there the time you spend typing in the password is used to also load the desktop in the background.

Anyone knows what they called that feature and weather it is actually available in win7 or was it canned (it was supposed to come out with vista IIRC)?

If you are not sure what I am talking about, close all your programs and save your files.
Now logoff (do not shut down, just logoff).
Now login. Notice how long it takes to finish.
Now do "switch users" (near the shutdown button)
Now login. Notice how it is instant.
