Windows audio service keeps shutting off

I am having problems with my laptop. Its running windows xp home and about a week ago or so the windows audio service started shutting off. I can get the audio back by restarting the serivce through the control panel, but it will shut itself off again seemingly randomly. The service is checked to start automatically. I can't think of anything that would cause this or a way to fix it. Any suggestions would really help at this point.

small update. I tried updating my sound drivers but that didn't help. I have noticed that right before it happens I get the error "generic host process has encountered and error and is shutting down.." then the audio is gone. Any ideas?

Well, after some hardcore searching i fixed the problem. MS released a hotfix. I guess its a security hole in windows. That host process gets nuked and its associated processes (sound being one of them) with it. I ran windows update and it hasnt happened in several days. Hope it helps you as well Neverm1nd

I also have a problem with my Windows Audio service turning off, however I also have other services turning off, which seems to be preventing me from using the Windows Update site. Do you have the url for that hotfix, or any of the related information about it?
