Hey everyone! Running Windows 8.1 Pro on an ASUS laptop. Since my upgrade to Windows 8.1, I am not able to open the app store. I have narrowed it down to a profile issue. Other accounts on the laptop do not have an issue.

My account is a MS account. I do not sign into the machine locally, however, I have tried to do that and I get the same result.

Before I remove my profile, and create a new one, I want to be able to correct this.

If you can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

Format your laptop

If you can't offer any help, then just stay out of the thread.

Going by a search, would these help?

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebo...oftware/Windows-8-1-Store-access/td-p/3848602

It maybe the case that for the account, the Store needs to be re-registered.

This issue can occur when the Windows Store App needs to be re-registered after an upgrade. This can be done as follows:
1. Open a command prompt as administrator.
i. Click on Start, type cmd.
ii. Right click on 'Command Prompt' and click on 'Run as administrator'
2. Type or paste the following command:
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.xml
3. Hit enter
4. Type or paste the following command:
start "" "ms-windows-store:"
5. Hit Enter
6. Restart and check if Windows Store is working now

I think he wants help, not a trolling.

From the start menu, run wscollect - it'll generate a cab file with pertinent logs in it.

Send me a PM if you want, since I cannot PM you.

Thank you. I will try this and see what happens. I would rather not format the machine.

Thank you. This did not work.

I am trying to avoid a format.

Did you run wscollect to grab the logs that will likely show what the error is? Let's avoid doing random stuff to his machine :)

(FYI - there should be no personally identifiable information in the logs collected by wscollect.)

Does it work any better if you set up a second local user and trying it with that? I'm wondering if it's a userland problem.
