Windows Anytime Upgrade

I recently got a few copies of Vista Ultimate (From the MS Live Search Club - ordered them over a year ago!) and was thinking of upgrading my desktop to Ultimate (from Home Premium OEM).

If I use Windows Anytime Upgrade and plug in my Ultimate retail CD key, will it invalidate my Home Premium OEM key?

No. MS has no way of knowing that your OEM copy is no longer in use. As far as MS is concerned, you'll still be running it.

And they don't "deactivate" keys. They just keep track of how many times a key has been used. (Well, you could assume that some of the keys floating around in the torrents world have been used so many times that, for all intents and purposes, they're deactivated!)

But understand that the OEM copy can only be installed on the original PC.
I think Ms is allowing 3 or so reinstalls now before you have to talk to the nice lady in India.
