I recently discovered this tool setupmgr.exe and created an answer file (and batch file) for an unattended setup of XP. However, I can't find a way to integrate it into a WinXP CD for a quick install.

A point in the right direction would be helpful.

Thanks.

you can load it onto a floppy disk, but I'm not sure how to get windows to look at it.

You can also create a custom CD (I use Bart's boot CD) and slipstream your answer file, drivers, and service packs into it.

once you create the answer file, you would have to rename it to winnt.sif and copy it to a floppy. Once the windows install starts put the floppy in right away as it reads that file at the start.

The other way is to put that winnt.sif file into the i386 folder of the cdrom and re-burn your cd. Unattended at MSFN.org can guide you through the steps need to reburn the cd

or you can use a tool called NliteNlite which has the option of creating your iso image that you can burn as well as other options too

*edit* ignore the blank post... hit reply to quickly :(

So I rename the .txt file. Is the .bat file needed in the i386 folder as well? If so, will I need to edit it?

Thanks for the help :)

nope the bat file is not needed so it can be deleted, all that is need is the renamed .txt to .sif
