We have a Windows domain, and multiple users need to connect to a file share on another domain. I have used the "Map Network Drive" option and choose "Connect as another user", which tends to work for a few weeks. Then the users start having problems like the drive will no longer connect, or they get locked out (even though they have only tried to click on the network drive).
Now whenever I try to map the network drive, I get the message "an unexpected network error has occurred". I then tried to map the drive on a Vista computer, and it says the account has been locked. After getting the account unlocked, I'll try it again on the original computer, and it will again give the "an unexpected network error has occurred". After getting the account unlocked again, I then tried to map the drive on a different computer and it works fine.
So there seems to be an issue with that users profile, such that it is saving an old password somewhere?
I've tried using a net use command, both by specifying the password, and leaving it out, prompting the user for it.
Any suggestions?
