Windows 98 Wireless help

I'm trying to connect two computers wirelessly to my router. Both computers use windows 98 and both computers have a strong signal to the router. The problem is after a few seconds my connection to the router will die and then it'll reconnect. This happens every 10 seconds or so and it's an ongoing cycle. Does anyone know how to fix this?

If all settings are correct it is usually a sign of strong noise signal. Might be Microwave device, 2.3GHz phone, big water body etc.

I have other computers connected wirelessly to the router no problem. It's just that two computers using windows 98 seem to have a problem staying connected.

What kind of hardware are you using? I had a lot of problems with the Linksys WET 54G and Linksys B cards simply not talking to each other. I tried a 3Com B card with no luck. I run a Belkin 54G to a DLink PCMCIA card (DWL-G650) and a Linksys WMP54G card without a hiccup. I think with a lot of the new G stuff oyu need ot make sure that your drivers and firmware are all up-to-date as they let these things out before they were perfect. The only "mostly"reliable wireless stuff I've found has been the B products.

Are your drivers and firmware up to date?

I'm using a Netgear 814 wireless router and xterasys pci cards. Both are B. I have these same pci cards in a few xp boxes and they have no problem with my router. However these 98 machines are giving me serious problems. One of the machines is running 98 while the other 98se.

My guess would be driver firmware or both. If you can take the card out of the 98 machine, put it into an XP machine and it works fine then it's a decent bet it's the 98 driver.
