I just formatted and reinstalled windows 98 2nd Edition on a PC for a Customer. The problem is I misspelled his name upon the win98 install. In the Control Panel under Device Manger (System Properties) were it shows the person OS system, Registered to name, amount of ram ect..

Can someone tell me were to go to fix this name? I know its not that big of a deal but would just like to know for the knowledge as well. 🙂

Thanks!
Buck

From the run box type regedit. Select Edit then Find. Type the name and then press find. The search will find it(only because I am too lazy to look up the key and I don't have a 9X system handy). You will be able to select the name and right click on it. Select modify and then correct the name to the right spelling. While you are there make a note of the Key path and you will know for future reference

Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RegisteredOwner

edit- added the key path
