I have a hd attached to my secondary master. When I boot the computer I notice it in bios but does not show up in the my computer window. The hd on the primary master is there. Any ideas?
thanks

It is a used drive. I justed plugged it in. How can I do that if it isn't recognized in the my computer window
thanks

Now I can see the hd icon in my computer but it says it is only 550mm but this is a 1.6gb hd. When I partitioned I noticed there was some non dos partitions on this hd. Also when it goes through the boot sequence it says something is disabled. Whoever had this hd before me did some weird partitioning ( this is only a 1.6 hd) How do I fix this hd so I can load win98?
Thanks

Hi,
It appears that ht previous owner used either Unix or NT. This is easy enough to fix. I suggest a program called partition resizer. It has a few more features than fdisk and heck, it's freeware and works from a dos prompt. Also, if you remove the help file from a 98 boot disk, it should fit on it as well. It can be found all over the net called presizer.exe. This program will remove all other parititions and set a new one. Then reformat and you should be in business. Make sure your jumpers are correct for both drives, ie. one must be set to master and one to slave. That's all I can suggest with what you have told us. Best of luck.
As Always,
D
