Windows 98 SE Files

Windows 98 SE Files

I recently had to reformat my Win drive and reinstall Win 98 Se.
Prior to the formating I did a backup to preserve all my data.

Now, I would like to restore my 'PRINTERS', Dial-up Connections; Control Panel; Add/Remove Programs; DESKTOP. Startup programs; SENDTo;
'Programs', under START; and Task Bar, etc.

Would someone please tell me which folders to restore containing this information. And any others that would be appropriate to get my system
back the way it was.

Thank you very much for your help!

well, c:\windows\desktop is your old desktop

c:\windows\sendto is your sendto folder

c:\windows\start menu\programs is your programs.

as far as printers, you're going to have to re-install them anyway. same thing with dial-ups, just make new ones. control panel is automatically re-created. you'll also have to re-create your task bar.

Thanks, I was hoping it would be easier than that. I wish I had taken a 'picture' of my Desktop and other data before I reformatted.

LOL,

I learned a long time ago to do a "print screen" of my desktop & the contents of my programs folder before a format.

I save the images to a 2nd hard drive. Looking at them later makes it a LOT easier to remember what to reinstall.
