a fresh installation of windows 98 SE on a 1 GHZ (assume celeron processor) box with 256 mbmemory, how many seconds do you think it would take for win 98 se to load up fully that is hard drive stops churning at desktop present. ignore bios post and all that

what do you imagin is th fastest time for windows 98 se boot I can get from a 1 GHZ box?Is it possible to get it under 10 seconds ignoring post and all that and assuming you can remove unnecessary components including theexplorer.exe shell

i found that hard drive RPM's make a huge difference in load times. with a high end hard drive im sure you can probably get pretty low times to boot. as for exact times, there are a lot of factors that go into the boot sequence and to guess a number is rather difficult.

you must be joking! no way win98se will boot in less than ten seconds.....usually about a minute or so is the best i was able to achieve.....sometimes, 45-50 seconds, but average a minute or close to it.....
