Windows 98 pop up menu editing question.

When I right click on the desktop in Windows 98 the usual popup comes up, but I'm wondering if there's a way to change what's in the "New" section of it. There must be a registry entry somewhere that's adding things here, and I'd like to lean it up some. Also, whan I right click on the Start button I get some options there too that I'd like to get rid of. Does anyone know how to get rid of these two things?

Thanks for any help!

Ahh, it did help propellorhead, thanks! I was hoping it wasn't something that ran in the background or something, but I saw it was a .cpl, so I just put in in Windows\System. Thank you.

As for the second thing, I hated the stuff Winamp added when I right clicked on the Start key. Not that I ever do this, but I hate when programs add little things to your UI. Realplayer, I'm looking in YOUR direction..!

Anyway, one thing it added was "Enqueue in Winamp" so I searched my registry and found several entries of this. I placed a number after each on found in the search. 1 for the first one F3 found, 2 for the second, and so on. I right clicked the Start button, and noticed it had a "Enqueue in Winamp1" , so I deleted the first return the search got. (Pretty clever huh?)

That leads me to another question;

Will doing this kill, or worse 🙂 slow down my computer/OS? I'm a little nervous about tweaking the reg., so I want to make sure that the only thing I did was get rid of it and now screw anything up. Should I be OK?
