Windows 98 folders unviewable in xp?

I have a restore folder that i used every so often in win 98 to back up stuff on a different drive and now when i go to view that folder its nowhere to be found. I have xp now on the main drive, but the backup drive is still untouched os wise. I am 100% positive the folder is there but it wont let me get to it, even in dos. Anyone have any suggestions how to fix this?
