Windows 98 Clients with Windows 2000 Server

I am kinda at a loss to my problem.. I setup the Windows 98 clients to be in workgroup "domain0" (domain replaced with my domain name) and then I set it to look for users and passwords to "domain0" and that all works.. it finds the domain and looks up the user/pass and I set the network logon to "Client for Microsoft Networks" however.. when I reboot the computer it shows the network logon but it does not show the "Domain:" field.. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

AFAIK there is no domain field with Win 98.

all of these computers had the domain field before they were reformatted.. and i use Fortres 101 security (local) that allowed me to set it to not allow them to edit the domain.. It's a school lab and students like to change the name then they yell at me because "the network is down"
