Windows 98 Boot error

When I boot Windows 98 right before the desktop loads I get an information box that pops up with an i (i suppose meaning information) but no other text. I have tried looking in the startup list in msconfig to try and figure out what is causing this popup text box to appear but have had no luck so far figuring out what it might be. Anyone have a similar problem/bug before.

Thanks for the help in advance

Have you tried the F8 -> step-by-step? If you don't see it there check your startup folder (obviously) and your registry in the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\Run key.

You can also try holding down the shift key on boot, but that would just bypass it and not tell you what it is.

I tryed adaware, spybot, did a full virus scan both w local and online virus tool. Went in and selectively disabled all the startup entries. Since it only appears when the desktop loads using F8 and loading drivers one at a time didnt do me any good either. Is there a way to log the load process to see what the various drivers etc loading show?
