Windows 98 2nd edition Internet Problem!!

Hi, I have been having a problem with my internet while using windows 98 2nd edition. I'm not sure if this is infomation that might help but my system is pretty old i'm guessing close to 3 years maybe. It is an AMD k6-2 350, 128 pc-100 ram (generic), voodoo 3 2000 agp, a fujitsu hdd, and I think a FIC motherboard not sure which model. Anyways my problem is when I am playing a video game on the internet or anything that requires me sending lots of packets and receving lots of packets I always lose connection after about 10 minutes of this continuous sending and receving of packets. BTW I am using cable modem and when I lose connection it is not b/c the cable modem is out because my dads comp still works fine. When i go to restart my comp i get a msg that says "WIN95 RPC not responding".....I click end task and my comp restarts, and then sure enough my internet works again. I have tried defragmenting my hdd, doing a thorough scan w/ scan disk, and I plugged the cable modem straight up to my linksys network card (thought maybe the problem was the router), but nothing seems to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!!
